Art in Nature

"Nature is my springboard. From her I get my initial impetus. I have tried to relate the visible drama of mountains, trees, and bleached fields with the fantasy of wind blowing and changing colors and forms." Milton Avery

Enthused by nature, during this camp, we will learn about the basic art elements: line, shape, color, value, texture, form and space. Each day we will use one or two of these elements to help us study our environment. Every student will construct individual artwork from found natural materials and other sources. With nature as an inspiration, campers will construct an ephemeral piece and watch how these works change throughout the week. We will discuss known artists’ works as it relates to the student projects. Get ready to become nature artists!
